The Cathedral of Matera reopened to the public
The jobs of restoration are finished, the external scaffoldings have been removed and since March 05th it's possible to visit it.
The Cathedral was closed to the public, for restoration works, from the year 2003, when part of the inside structure of the cathedral collapsed and this that brought to the decision to start the restoration and maintenance works. Since then, excepted extraordinary openings, it has been impossible to visit its inside.
The Cathedral of Matera is located on the Civita the tallest point of the city that also represented the social and cultural center of it during the Middle Ages. It is made in Romanesque and Apulia style, It has been built between 1230 and 1270 for the devotion to the Madonna of the Bruna and Sant'Eustachio.
