Ben-Hur is an upcoming American historical epic film directed by Timur Bekmambetov and written by Keith R. Clarke and John Ridley, based on the novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ by Lew Wallace and also a remake of 1959 film of same name. The film stars Jack Huston, Morgan Freeman, Toby Kebbell, Nazanin Boniadi and Rodrigo Santoro. Principal photography began on February 2, 2015 in Matera, Italy. The film is scheduled to be released on September 2016.
